The mortuary at the Imo State Specialist Hospital is reportedly overfilled with unclaimed dead bodies.
Information reaching MaaziTV has it that most of the corpses abandoned at the specialist hospital mortuary which is located along Umuguma road new Owerri have stayed too long without any hope of recovery by family members.
When newsmen reached out to hospital authorities, the Chief Medical Director, Dr Kanuda Ibebuchi revealed that the management of the hospital alerted to the abandoned dead bodies at the hospital mortuary, and pointed out that the situation now called for urgent attention.
He revealed that the situation now calls for the urgent organization of mass burial of the abandoned bodies so that the mortuary will be decongested.
Dr. Ibebuchi went on to reveal that the public has been notified of the precarious situation at the hospital, insisting that after three weeks without a reasonable reaction from families of those in their custody, the hospital management would be left with no other option than to massively bury the bodies that were left in the mortuary.
Ibebuchi appealed to people who have abandoned dead bodies of their family members at the mortuary, to come within the said period and take them away for proper burial.
