The immediate past governor of Imo State and a former Deputy Speaker of the Nigerian National Assembly, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, has paid a visit to Governor Alex Otti of Abia State.
MaaziTV has it that Otti is the only governor elected under the platform of the Labour Party in the country.
In a post published on his X handle on Monday, Ihedioha displayed pictures of his visit to the Abia State Government House in Umuahia.
“Delighted to have met with my esteemed brother and friend, Governor @alexottiofr, at his residence in Isialangwa. We had a convivial discussion, even as I commend his giant strides in Abia State,” Ihedioha wrote.
The development is coming barely days after Ihedioha announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
In a letter which was addressed to the PDP chairman in his Mbutu Ward in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of the state, Ihedioha cited a misalignment between his personal beliefs and the current direction the PDP was moving in.
Ihedioha however expressed his dedication towards ensuring the advancement of democracy and good governance in the country despite leaving PDP.
Ihedioha was a founding member of the PDP.
His resignation has led to an avalanche of resignations from the party.
There was been speculations over Ihedioha’s next move with many political parties, including the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, urging the former governor to join their ranks.
