The Executive Governor of Imo state, Hope Uzodimma has taken up the position of commissioner for lands in the state.
The announcement was made by the governor on Tuesday, April 30, while inaugurating the 24 newly appointed commissioners at the Government House in Owerri.
According to the governor, appointing himself as Lands commissioner was a measure to prevent a repeat of past incidents.
Uzodinma recalled the case of a previous commissioner who was embroiled in controversial land deals around the end of his first tenure.
Recalls that a former commissioner for lands in the state was detained and held for months over his alleged involvement in shady land deals.
