Dele Momodu, a prominent figure in the PDP and former presidential candidate, expressed surprise at former Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha’s swift departure from the party. Momodu praised Ihedioha’s decision, acknowledging the legitimacy of his reasons for leaving the PDP. Speculation arose about Ihedioha’s exit, with Momodu suggesting it might be due to the party’s perceived inactivity in addressing critical issues. He proposed that individuals disenchanted with their current political affiliations often switch parties in pursuit of better prospects.

Former Governor Emeka Ihedioha tendered his resignation from the PDP, citing a misalignment between his personal convictions and the party’s current direction. In his resignation letter, he reiterated his commitment to fostering democracy and good governance in Nigeria. As a longstanding member of the party since its inception in 1998, Ihedioha has played a significant role in its development.

In an interview with Channels TV, Momodu remarked, “Only a few people can endure the hardships of opposition and remain in one political party. Nigerian politics is often a winner-take-all game, akin to a casino. When some people are no longer comfortable in a political party, they move on. Someone like the former governor of Imo state, Ihedioha, discussed his departure with me. I love and respect him greatly, and I believe he has genuine reasons for leaving our party, possibly due to the lack of action by the party in recent months.”
