The resignation of former Imo State governor and former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, has reverberated across the political landscape. Ihedioha, a prominent figure within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), had a significant role in shaping the party’s direction both nationally and at the state level. His departure comes amidst internal conflicts within the PDP, leaving the party in disarray.
In an interview on Arise TV, Chief Emeka Ihedioha addressed some of the underlying issues within the PDP that influenced his decision to leave the party. However, when questioned about assessing the performance of the current Imo State governor, Hope Uzodinma, who succeeded him, Ihedioha declined to comment. Despite the interviewer’s persistence, Ihedioha remained resolute, emphasizing that discussing Uzodinma was not the focus of the interview.
The interviewer continued to press Ihedioha on his reluctance to discuss Governor Uzodinma, noting that as a member of the opposition, it was important to evaluate the governor’s performance. However, Ihedioha reiterated his stance, stating that the topic was not relevant to the current discussion. He suggested that if the interviewer wished to delve into that matter, it could be addressed on another occasion.
In his words: “Charles, I won’t talk about him. I have not spoken about him in a while so I’ll not talk about him. (The interviewer, now said, but you’re a member of the opposition, why?). Emeka Ihedioha insisted that, ‘I’ll not talk about him. That is not the essence of this interview’. It’s not the subject of our discussion. But if I’ll talk about it that’ll be something we can take another day”.
