Former Deputy Speaker of House of the Nigerian National Assembly, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, who served briefly as the 6th Governor of Imo State has broken his silence over his removal from office by the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

MaaziTV recalls that the apex court sacked Ihedioha from office after he spent 7 months in power and declared the All Progressives Congress APC candidate, Hope Uzodinma as the actual winner of the 2019 gubernatorial election in the state.

Ihedioha was speaking in an interview on AriseTV, where he revealed that most Nigerians he knew, were shocked at the judgment of the court because he clearly won the election by a wide margin of victory according to the record of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.

He stated that the electoral body even had his name listed as the winner of the election up till November 11 of 2023 when the next gubernatorial election took place.

Ihedioha pointed out that despite the setback, he was still optimistic and believes in the Nigerian system attributing his acceptance of the judgment to his belief in God.

In his words: “INEC had my name as winner of the election up till November 2023, so for INEC I won the election with close to 100,000 votes margin. So I didn’t see where it was coming.”
