A high-ranking member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has asserted that Governor Hope Uzodinma would block former Governor Rt. Hon Emeka Ihedioha from joining the party if he decides to do so. This comes in the wake of Ihedioha’s recent resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speculations have been rife regarding Ihedioha’s next political move, with some suggesting that he might align with the Peter Obi-led Labour Party after his meeting with Governor Alex Otti of Abia State shortly after leaving the PDP. There have also been rumors circulating that Ihedioha could potentially join the APC.
However, a chieftain of the APC, speaking anonymously to MaaziTV, dismissed the notion of Ihedioha joining their party. “It would have been a strategic move for him,” the chieftain stated, “”If you ask me, I think he should make moves to come into the party, but trust me when I tell you this, it would not happen. At the moment Uzodinma is in charge of the party registers so how is he going to come into the party without the approval of the governor? Uzodinma is smart. Remember how outsmarted Okorocha and secretly joined the party before Okorocha could stop him. He has put up such checks so nobody can outsmart him and sneak into the party from the back door. Unless Uzodinma himself wants Ihedioha to join us, I don’t see how he would enter the party and as I am seeing things, Uzodinma is comfortable in APC without Ihedioha. He won’t let him in.”
