As part of efforts to enhance security in Imo State, the administration of Governor Hope Uzodinma has initiated inspections of taxis that do not adhere to the approved colors designated for taxis in the state.
In light of this directive, all commercial bus and taxi drivers operating in Imo State have been instructed to comply with the regulations or risk having their vehicles impounded. In response to this development, cab operators are required to proceed to Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu Square in Owerri for registration and computerization.
According to sources familiar with the matter, this initiative is aimed at improving security measures by ensuring that all cabs in Imo State display uniform colors, with operators’ pictures captured in a centralized database for easy identification.
By standardizing taxi colors and implementing a registration system, the government aims to enhance accountability and facilitate swift identification of taxi operators, thereby contributing to efforts to curb insecurity in the state.
