Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has confidently declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will achieve a sweeping victory in the upcoming local government elections, set for Saturday, September 21.

Speaking at the grand finale of the party’s campaign rally, held at Ndubuisi Kanu Square in Owerri, Uzodinma addressed a crowd of party supporters and candidates for various positions. He expressed optimism about the party’s chances, attributing their anticipated success to APC’s popularity at the grassroots level and its policies that directly benefit the people.

The governor stressed the importance of party unity, urging members to rally behind the leadership and support the candidates to secure a comprehensive win in the polls.

He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to local government autonomy, which Imo State has embraced as a way to strengthen its local government system. According to Uzodinma, this initiative will help alleviate hunger, reduce suffering, and lower the cost of living.

Acknowledging that the local government elections had been delayed since 2021 due to security challenges and banditry, the governor assured the public that the upcoming election would be free, fair, and transparent.

He further called on those opposed to his administration to seize the opportunity to vote for their preferred candidates, emphasizing the importance of participation in the democratic process.

During the event, APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje addressed the candidates, encouraging them to perform well in the field. He reminded them that being selected from a pool of aspirants should inspire them to make the party proud.

In an interview with our correspondent, party member Solomon Ihemadu affirmed that the APC is fully prepared for the election, having concluded its campaign rally. He emphasized that the APC-led administration remains dedicated to providing quality leadership, particularly in rural areas, if victorious.

Also present at the rally was the APC National Vice President for the Southeast zone, Ijeomah Arodiogbu, who expressed confidence that the party would win all 305 INEC wards and the 27 local government areas. He urged opposition parties to demonstrate maturity and adhere to ISIEC guidelines for a peaceful election.
