The Nigeria Police Force has unveiled several advantages of the newly introduced Electronic Central Motor Registry (E-CMR) system, designed to modernize vehicle verification and tracking.
According to the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, one of the key benefits of the E-CMR is that officers will no longer need to stop vehicles to check papers manually. “Our officers are equipped with cutting-edge tech to verify documents in real-time,” Adejobi stated on his X handle on Thursday.
Another significant advantage of the system, as Adejobi pointed out, is that in the event a vehicle registered with the NPF E-CMR is stolen, owners can immediately flag it as stolen via their online profile, aiding in its swift recovery.
This development follows the July directive by Inspector General of Police Olukayode Egbetokun, who ordered the enforcement of the digitalized Central Motor Registry. The move aims to enhance the country’s vehicle registration process and improve overall security.
