…CP Aboki Danjuma Issues Strong Warning to Parents, Stresses Vigilance
In a major breakthrough, detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Owerri have successfully dismantled a notorious child trafficking syndicate responsible for the abduction of children from unsuspecting parents.
This operation led to the rescue of three children who were kidnapped on July 4, 2024, in Ndinwegbu Umuoma, Onicha, Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA.
The arrested suspects include:
- Ifeoma Anyanwu (41), Oloko, Ikwuano LGA, Abia State
- Chibuzor Lucky (42), Umuezeala Umuerim, Ubakala, Umuahia, Abia State
- Charity Kalu (24), Okono, Ohafia LGA, Abia State
- Isidore Ozioma (56), Umuhu Onicha, Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA, Imo State
Investigations revealed that the syndicate lured the children into a tricycle while they were playing outside, subsequently transporting them to a hidden location in Aba, where they were sold for ₦1,000,000. Prompt action by the police resulted in the safe rescue of the children and the arrest of the suspects.
The suspects are currently undergoing further interrogation at the SCID as police efforts continue to locate other missing children. The rescued children have since been reunited with their families.
Reacting to the incident, CP Aboki Danjuma issued a stern warning to parents, urging them to remain vigilant and cautious of strangers. He emphasized the need for families to closely supervise their children at all times, particularly in public spaces.
