Hon. Ifunanya Nwanegwo, the newly sworn-in Executive Chairman of Mbaitoli Local Government Area (LGA) in Imo State, has officially taken office. His inauguration, alongside other elected local officials, was held on September 30, 2024, under the leadership of Governor Hope Uzodimma at the Government House in Owerri.
At a press conference held at the Mbaitoli Local Government Headquarters in Nwaorieubi, Hon. Nwanegwo unveiled his two-point agenda focused on Agricultural Development and Road Infrastructure. He emphasized that these sectors are key to improving the livelihoods of the people and fostering the overall economic and social progress of Mbaitoli.
In his remarks, the chairman pledged an inclusive governance style, committing to involving all stakeholders, including those who ran against him in the elections. He also addressed the various leadership disputes within local communities, expressing his determination to promote peace and unity across the LGA.
Hon. Nwanegwo called on the people of Mbaitoli to support the Shared Prosperity Administration of Governor Uzodimma, noting that his plans for the area are in line with the state’s broader goals. He assured residents that his administration would prioritize their security, well-being, and development, delivering impactful leadership that would bring tangible improvements to the community.
The chairman also announced that the elected councillors would be officially inaugurated the following Tuesday, further setting his administration on a path toward progress.
As a demonstration of his commitment to conflict resolution, Hon. Nwanegwo has already begun addressing the ongoing leadership crisis at Nwaorieubi Modern Market. He urged all involved parties to cease hostilities and promised to resolve all pending court cases, ensuring a peaceful and productive environment for traders.
